When many of us were born again, we can agree that we did not immediately know what the death of Jesus meant for us. We only knew that a great change had occurred since we met the Lord. By the mercies of God, the Holy Spirit began His work of transformation as we beheld Him in His Word. Through the ministry of sound teachers, the way of God was made even clearer to us.
Hello! Good evening my friend. How’re you doing? Welcome to this week’s edition of The Jesus Therapy Seven. It’s my earnest prayer that as we seek to know God more, our lives will take the perfect form necessary to fulfil His purposes, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
This week, the Church meditates on the death and resurrection of Jesus as the foundation of the Christian faith.
What Easter has Become for us and the Price we Must pay
Through His death, we now have access
Last year, a sister shared what Easter reminds her of. It left an imprint on my heart. She said whenever she thinks of Easter, she remembers that we now have ACCESS — “for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18). Jesus’ death marked a new way to be reconciled with God — “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved…”(John 10:9).
When He died, we died. When He rose, we rose.
A few weeks ago, I heard someone try to argue against the Christian call to die to self. she said, “Jesus did not ask us to die. He died already. All we have to do is live for Him.”
Contrary to this thought, without death, there could be no resurrection. As children of God, we cannot embrace the resurrection and put away the death of Jesus. We have not just been called to rejoice with the life He now lives, but also unite with Him in the death that He died.
Jesus’ death for us means death to the old sinful life and a new Life in Christ. We lay down our lives, identities, and human inclinations to take up His life.
For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
- 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 NKJV
Sin has Lost its Power
Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
- Romans 6:5-7 NLT
Jesus has liberated us from sin’s bondage to live a holy life, free from sin and worldliness. We no longer have any obligation to do what our sinful nature urges us to do. We can now say “NO” by the power of the Holy Spirit through whom we have been born again. Praise God!
A Clear Statement That We All Don’t Serve the Same God
The resurrection affirms there’s only one way to God. That way is JESUS and His sacrifice is the only basis to approach God.
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
- John 14:6 NLT
For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus
- 1 Tim. 2:5 NLT
There would be great joy in heaven when Christians no longer know the truth of their faith in theory, but by revelation that transforms a life. God still rewards diligent seekers.
Have you struggled to understand what Jesus has accomplished for you on the cross? Do you long to live a life of victory? Have you come to the end of yourself and long to live this practical Christian life that the Bible teaches?
I have attached a series that has completely transformed my life. Listen to it and trust God to do a new thing with you. If you seek Him long enough, you will find Him.
