In 2008, Jenny Phillips wrote a song titled Daughter of a King. Some of its lyrics say:
Do you ever wonder if He knows who you are?
Do you wonder if He knows the secret pleadings of your heart?
…
Can you feel a quiet power from above?
Can you feel his strength surround you
When your own is not enough
He has blessed you with His Spirit from on high
And He longs for you to know He lives inside of you
…
Daughter of a King
The Father's royalty
Heir to His divinity
He's calling your name
To come and take your place
Before His throne
He has always known
What He created you to be
Daughter of a king
You hold the promises of all eternity
Rise to claim the noble birthright…
Let Him lead you to the gifts He has in store for you
This song is the best intro to say a very happy International Women’s Day to you. Good evening, my friend!
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Jesus Therapy Seven! It’s my earnest prayer that as we seek to know God more, our lives will take the perfect form necessary to fulfill His purposes, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
If you’re a male subscriber to this newsletter, I also dedicate this to you, hoping that you’ll prayerfully stand in the gap for your mother, sister, wife, fiancée and daughter, amongst others. Tell them how much they mean to you today and encourage them to stay the course!
I’m so thrilled about this celebration because, in the last year, I came under a very strong conviction of what God has placed in His daughters and how He’ll move greatly through them in these end times.
Woman, You’re in Honour
Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
- Psalm 49:20 KJV
Each time God visited a woman in the Bible, He clothed her with prestige, strength, honour and dignity. Jesus did the same with the women in the NT — the woman at the well, the sinful woman that wiped his feet with her hair, Mary Magdalene, the woman caught in adultery, and every woman that helped Him in ministry. It wasn’t for nothing. Woman, do you know you’re in honour?
The Single
Her Lord is God and she’s concerned to do all that pleases Him. She seeks to glorify Him above all else, and His standards are her standards. Her eyes are fixed on Him; her lips are ever ready to proclaim the beauties of His holiness.
There’s something the love of Jesus does to her heart — it’s tender, compassionate, yet brave. It’s a love that keeps her coming back to His feet, breaking her alabaster box again and again in life-long worship. This is also the posture of the widow who has chosen to live the rest of her life entirely consecrated to God (1 Tim. 5:5).
The Married
With God as her Lord and her husband as her lord, she is not subdued. She thrives under the lordship of her husband, covered and secure. Her love is not selfish; everyone gets to experience her warmth and hospitality.
She doesn’t usurp or dishonour the lordship of her husband. She will, perhaps, occupy positions of power, yet will have the same mind that was in Christ — a heart of humility like His, who though being in very nature God, didn’t consider equality with Him as something to cling to (Phil. 2:5-6).
Meet for Her Master’s Use
The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, Until that I Deborah arose, That I arose a mother in Israel.
- Judges 5:7 KJV
God will use women on the field and in the homes. A godly woman is not ambitious for her gain but is equipped by the Lord for every good work — in every facet of life. Godly men understand this. Rather than belittle her, he covers her and makes room for her destiny to blossom under his care.
The godly woman is not hungry for the limelight. Someone noted that Deborah could’ve called herself a judge, prophetess, or intercessor, but she chose to call herself a mother. Regardless of the powerful feat the woman achieves, the tag of motherhood cannot be taken away from the one whom God has chosen for Himself.
Her husband will be known at the gate while her deeds will yet praise her at the gate; the godly woman is not shortchanged. You may have struggled for so long, joggling your femininity with the divisive effects of power tussle. It’s time to enter your rest — your God-ordained path.
Don’t Lose Your Shine
The instructions for women captured in the New Testament are profound, endearing, and exhortative. It teaches us the power of godly silence, humility, fervency, modesty, prudence, patience, and all other virtues of the Spirit. We’re encouraged to commit to regular study of God’s instructions for us because the flesh forgets! May we become the true daughters He ordained us to be in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Goodbyes
And oh, my dear Timothy, guard the treasure you were given! Guard it with your life. Avoid the talk-show religion and the practiced confusion of the so-called experts. People caught up in a lot of talk can miss the whole point of faith. Overwhelming grace keep you!”
- 1 Timothy 6:20-21 MSG
Till next time,
Wednesday, God-willing.
Happy international women's day, Kosi. May we be all that God created us to be. Amen
Amen!
